From the article published on 1-4-20 in the newspaper LAS PROVINCIAS (https://www.lasprovincias.es/economia/queremos-colaborar-20200401001928-ntvo.html#vca=fixed-btn&vso=rrss&vmc=wh&vli=Econom%C3%ADa ) we were contacted by the Valencian company specialized in construction materials “Grupo BdB”, based in Náquera (Valencia).

BdB has more than 270 sales points throughout Spain, to materialize a donation that will allow the distribution throughout the national territory of 75,000 masks to those groups that need them the most.

A great gesture of SOLIDARITY that will make it possible to provide materials, fabrics, elastics and sewing thread to organized groups of volunteers who are making them at home.

It should be noted that solidarity taxi drivers, the Guardia Civil and the local police collaborate in the necessary logistics. And we hope to receive the support of some transport agency for interprovincial shipments soon.

UPDATE 18-4-2020

BdB has made a new donation so that “Masks of Madrid” can make 25,000 more masks.

Aware that their support is of vital importance for people with greater exposure to the virus, they have listened to the request of the solidarity network that makes them and have increased their economic donation to be able to supply them with more fabric together with the company Textil Batavia.

This additional effort is focused on the group of more than 200 volunteers of “Masks of Madrid” who, under the slogan “Protecting those who protect us”, make and distribute this element of individual protection wherever people with high exposure to the virus need it. Volunteers who, altruistically, receive the necessary material and, from their homes and with a sewing machine, manufacture masks that they donate to health centres, police, senior citizens’ centres and different organisations that help vulnerable people.

José Durá, General Director of BdB, assures that he is “completely committed to fighting this virus together with many other entrepreneurs. Our role in society is now even more relevant, if possible, because, despite suffering the impacts of the crisis, we are one more social agent, which in other circumstances allows the economic development of its region, and now contributes with its resources to protect society”.

BdB, for its part, is distributing a large number of masks in different areas of Spain, taking advantage of its store structure. They have already made deliveries to the Civil Guard in Zaragoza, Valencia and Madrid, to the Mossos d’Esquadra in Catalonia and to different town councils in towns in Salamanca. In this way, they will reach different groups in many corners, which are now top priority.
