On Friday 07th May 2022, the Bétera Town Council organised a ceremony in the auditorium of the Casa de la Cultura to thank those volunteers, institutions, groups and companies that were “ready for whatever may come” during the worst moments of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Among the participants were a large part of the Municipal Corporation, residents of the city, different associations and entities, as well as representatives of the local festive scene. The event was presided over by the municipal councillor for health, Carlos Abad, and the Mayoress, Elia Verdevío, who dedicated a few words of gratitude to the work of those who did their “bit” to tackle the health crisis.

During the evening, an emotional video was shown in recognition of the moments of work and solidarity, and during the tribute, the 8pm applause that was so representative during the state of alarm was revived.

Afterwards, several awards were presented to different personalities. The municipal councillor for Trade and Industry, Joaquín Gómez Martínez, presented Gonzalo Julián Orduña, CEO of Textil Batavia, with an award for the donation and supply of sanitary fabrics, as well as for the production of face masks. The event ended with a minute’s silence in memory of all the people who left us during this difficult period.
