Depending on the purpose of the threads, they are given one finish or another. Among the most common finishes are:
- Twisted: it consists of joining several threads in one, giving them torsion to be more resistant.
- Singeing: heat is applied to burn the hairs on the thread. It is used as a preliminary phase to the mercerizadde cotton threads.
- Mercerized: caustic soda is applied so that the thread shines brighter and absorbs more water.
- Tincture: given color.
DID YOU KNOW…? The twist is the number of turns the yarn is given per meter. The greater the twist, the rougher the yarn, the less it occupies and the more resistant it is.
